Quilt Korea
Saturday 2 October 10.00 - 4.00
£35 (includes lunch)
Workshop taught by Gillian Cooper.
Spend a day exploring the patchwork traditions of a far away land. Korea has a lovely practice of wrapping precious items and gifts in fabric and so in the morning we will make a wrapping cloth, which gives lots of gorgeous ideas for alternative Christmas packaging. In the afternoon, we will learn some of the stitching techniques used to join precious scraps of fabric into a beautiful cloth, which can be used for wrapping or interpreted in a more Western way into a quilt. Together with some Korean food to try, it will be a great escape day from a Scottish wet and windy autumn.
Techniques suitable both for hand and by machine.
Supplies:
50cm of two colours of fabric you love. Silk would be ideal and traditional.
Scraps of fabric, preferably silk
Sewing machine for the morning.
